We are still “Alive in the Spirit”!
In early July one of the most innovative conference offerings was made available to Catholics in Australia and abroad. The Alive in the Spirit Conference offered its almost 700 attendees, nearly 40
workshops, three keynotes, and several opportunities to network and meet up with other Catholics via a professionally organised online platform.
The conference was the culmination of a joint effort of three lay ministry networks: Mission Planners Network Oceania, Pastoral Ministries Network, and your Christian Initiation Australia Network.
One of the best features of this conference is that all the material is available until December. With pricing for individuals at $40 and $200 for groups, this is excellent value. Thinking practically, a
parish could bring together a number of ministry groups for formation or invite the whole parish for an assembly aimed at renewal and revitalisation.
Of note for our CIAN members would be the following workshops which would be very helpful for forming RCIA team members:
Max Norden: Essential Guide to running RCIA in a parish
1. The vision, priorities and core principles essential in the RCIA
2. The faith journey and what to teach in RCIA
3. What to do with baptised candidates in the RCIA
Lisa McKerr: A model for RCIA for young people
Sharon Brewer: Resources for RCIA
An added benefit of signing up for the ongoing conference experience is that there will be monthly online gatherings to network and discuss some of the material presented at the Conference. During the COVID-19 lockdowns these gatherings have allowed people to network and talk about their
learnings in a stress-free environment.
